I have used several video editing software products over the last few years, and whenever someone asks me which product they should purchase to edit their home videos its really a no brainer anymore. I always recommend powerdirector. Is it perfect? Easy answer nope, but its a great product for someone that wants to create some really cool home videos. It really gives you the tools you need to get the job done quick and efficient. It doesnt bombard you with every possible thing that someone could want to do with video editing. Instead it focuses on what we really use and makes it easy to use them. I would recommend that you have a decent machine to do video editing. Anytime you are doing major graphics or video editing you want a decent computer just to make the process more enjoyable. Its really the equivalent of surfing the web on an old 28k dial up modem connection, sure you can surf the web but how many of us would really enjoy surfing the web like that. Same goes for video editing its much more enjoyable. Im not saying you need the latest and greatest but just make sure your not on a commodore 64 (My First Computer). I also need to put a plug in for Adobe fireworks. Fireworks is video special effects software. Typically after I have edited all my videos together and created my video. I like to import it into fireworks so that I can do some great special effects, I have some great footage of my two youngest daughters having a star wars light saber war. Powerdirector is a great place to get started on video editing. And soon enough you will be creating your own family starwars videos.
